Cienfuegos province is 244
km from Havana, in the midsouth of the island. Having the same name as the province, its capital is the only Cuban city founded by French settlers.
In Cienfuegos there is always time for everything. For nature, for a marine climate, for a mountain retreat,
for culture, for an active social life, and for a happy people.
There are individually distinct panoramas of nature in the area: a
mountain range, with the highest peak in the center and westernmost part of the country (San
Juan Peak, 1200 m); beautiful Jagua Bay with its mysterious legends; and an extensive coastline open to
the Caribbean Sea, with beaches full of hidden caves waiting to be rediscovered.
The azure and verdant colors mix in indescribable palettes in this province. The wet
tropical forest reigns in the highlands. Profuse native vegetation, rich in orchids,
palms, and ferns, intermingles with waterfalls, springs, and streams brimming with wildlife. |
